Members Encourage Bristol, Virginia Residents to VOTE YES for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol

Over 45 Leading Bristol Small Businesses Now Back New Project; Coalition Grows as Local Businesses Welcome Destination-Scale Resort That Will Create Thousands of New Jobs in City, Spur Massive Growth in Tourism

BRISTOL, VA (October 22, 2020) – Today, the ‘Vote Yes For Bristol’ referendum committee announced that the “Small Businesses for Bristol” coalition backing the referendum has nearly doubled in size since it was first announced in August. These local job creators and leading small businesses have joined together to support passage of the referendum, and encourage voters to approve the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol in the upcoming election.  This growing coalition is bringing together local small businesses from various sectors who all understand what this referendum means for Bristol’s economy and its future.

New members of the coalition expressed their support of passage of the referendum and how they believe a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will benefit local small businesses and their employees:

Kim Warren & Tammy Jackson of Jerry B. Peters Sales stated, “As natives of Bristol, Virginia, we couldn’t be more excited about the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino coming to our hometown! We look forward to the strong community partnership to benefit the economy and our small businesses, and the growth it will provide our public schools. Hard Rock will offer a bright future for all of us!”

They were joined in that sentiment by Mitch Walters of The Friendship Family of Dealerships who remarked, “The problem I think is, in many communities including Bristol, there’s an erosion of talent. Young people graduate from high school, go to college, some do, some don’t, but many of them leave our area and don’t come back. We certainly have more leave than come back home. We need a younger workforce, younger households, younger people to stimulate our economy.  I think the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino opens up tremendous opportunities for young people that live in our area and that will move into our area. So, it’s a great thing.”

And Nick Bianchi of Lost State Distilling who also recently joined the coalition further added, “At Lost State Distilling we are excited at the prospect of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino coming into Bristol and see its creation as a great way to reinvigorate both sides of our Bristol TN/VA Downtown.”

The Hard Rock destination resort will create over 2,000 jobs, with an average total compensation of $46,500. The project has the potential to generate annual tax revenue equivalent to nearly half of Bristol, Virginia’s existing budget providing new funds that can be used for critical city services. The members of the “Small Businesses for Bristol” coalition recognize that a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino project in Bristol will be a catalyst for additional investment and job growth for the city, and across the entire region.
