The committee also will work hand in hand with the many local business and civic leaders and organizations, including elected officials, educators and public safety officials, who already support the project and the significant benefits it will bring residents in Bristol and all across the area.

Once fully developed, The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol will:

  • Create 2,050 new, direct jobs with average incomes of $46,500
  • Generate $16-$21 million in new annual tax revenue for Bristol, Virginia
  • Bring more than 4 million annual visitors to the region

Serving in an honorary role as committee co-chairs are: Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming, Jim McGlothlin, Chairman and CEO, The United Company and Clyde Stacy, President, Par Ventures. The 2020 general election ballot in Bristol, Virginia will feature the following question, allowing voters the opportunity to approve construction of a world class resort and casino at the former Bristol Mall site:

“Shall casino gaming be permitted at a casino gaming establishment in the City of Bristol, Virginia at 500 Gate City Highway, Bristol, Virginia 24201 (former Bristol Mall) as may be approved by the Virginia Lottery Board?”

“Hard Rock is proud to partner with business leaders who share the same values and prioritize being a great corporate citizen in the communities they are in,” said Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming. “We look forward to the opportunity to build a Hard Rock branded entertainment resort that will make Bristol proud.”

“I am proud to be joined in this effort by two leaders who share our commitment to Bristol and its future,” said Jim McGlothlin, Chairman and CEO, The United Company. “Clyde Stacy is a lifelong friend who has spent his entire career in Southwest Virginia. Jim Allen is CEO of a successful, iconic global entertainment brand, with loyal customers around the world. Hard Rock International is an organization that puts down roots and invests in a community and its people for a sustainable, long-term impact. This project started with a goal and vision to help Bristol and its residents. Bristol is a wonderful place to live and work, however, our local economy faces significant challenges. This project will help address those challenges. We plan to build a destination-scale resort and casino that will create thousands of new jobs and generate millions of dollars, every year, in additional local tax revenue for Bristol, Virginia. Tax revenue to pay our teachers and first responders, invest in our schools and support many other critical community needs.”

“For over two years we’ve worked to bring a world class resort, hotel and casino to Bristol,” said Clyde Stacy, President, Par Ventures. “Hard Rock is here and ready to be a part of our community. Now, Bristol voters have the historic opportunity to turn what was once just an idea into a reality. With a YES vote this fall, Bristol will gain thousands of new jobs, millions in new tax revenue for our schools, teachers and first responders, and further solidify our place in American music history as the true ‘Birthplace of Country Music.’ I know Bristolians will seize this moment to build a stronger and more prosperous future for the city we all love.”

The three honorary co-chairmen were joined in announcing the campaign committee by a number of local leaders who all spoke about how pivotal this project will be in ensuring a strong and prosperous future for all who call Bristol, Virginia home.

“The proposed Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol represents a unique opportunity for the City of Bristol Virginia to increase its tax base, create thousands of good-paying jobs for residents, and serve as a catalyst for future economic development throughout our region,” said Bill Hartley, Mayor of Bristol, VA. “The United Company, Par Ventures, and Hard Rock will invest hundreds of millions of dollars to create a world-class entertainment experience that will draw millions of guests to our community, build upon our unique heritage as the “Birthplace of Country Music,” and support existing businesses. The new revenues generated from this project will positively impact the city’s finances and accelerate the city’s efforts to reduce long-term debt; provide additional funding for essential services such as police, fire, and schools; and initiate long-delayed capital projects.”

“I am in support of the Hard Rock casino development planned for Bristol, VA,” said Steve Fletcher, Chair, Bristol, Virginia School Board. “I am excited for the potential revenue it will provide to our city that can be used to support upgrades for roads, utilities, schools, police and fire departments.”

“I love my job teaching Bristol’s children,” said Tracey Mercier, Teacher, Bristol, Virginia Public Schools. “But I know that to be as successful as we possibly can be, and to give our kids the best possible opportunities going forward, we must have schools that are modern and well-funded. That requires tax revenue. This hotel and casino project will make that happen. This is our chance to get the school funding Bristol’s students, parents and educators deserve. A yes vote for the referendum, will provide the investment in our public schools that our children and community truly deserve.”

“I am personally supporting the efforts to bring the casino and resort to Bristol, Virginia. This brings the opportunity for better paying jobs, generates new business and large revenues for the city,” said John Austin, Police Chief, Bristol, VA. “Additional tax revenues will allow the city to hire more first responders and acquire better equipment to keep residents safe. This is our opportunity to provide a lot of unemployed citizens with gainful employment. The casino is only a small part of this venture. Added revenue will allow the city to provide better services to the citizens of Bristol, Virginia. The economic impact of this project will allow businesses in our area to flourish.”
